I have now been in Atlanta ,Georgia USA for one month. Life is new. Unexpected location. Quick change of plans, tho not of dreams. Picking up the pieces and putting them back together in better forms than before. But, they were good before. Want better. Forgive my haphazard sentences. Short on time. Checked out rehearsal spaces today. Met with some musicians. Got an invite to play a little spot in a festival in a couple weeks. We shall see and I will let you know.
Off to see Kristin Hersh tonite at what I am told is the "CBGB's of the Southeast". My CD already in the hands of the bookers. Nice folks there. Homey. Like the infamous Hub in downtown Tampa where musicians and hangers on flock. Every town has one. I always seem to find it right away too. Like a moth to a flame. Glad I am the musician and not the hanger on.

Hi. Life sure did get busy this week. This is what is posted on one of the numerous music sites I am on right now.
I am delighted to announce that on 3 June, 2007 Michele Ari won 1107am Moray Firth Radio's Shandy Showcase by 100% of the votes, a feat that has only happened one other time in the history of the show!!!
The showcase puts two unsigned artists in a contest where the listeners decide the winner. Her track My Sleeping Beauty, off of her critically acclaimed debut release 85th and Nowhere, was played alongside another unsigned artist and the people spoke LOUD and CLEAR about what they wanted to hear.
This is a special kind of victory for Ari as she works relentlessly to bring inspired new music into a field stultified by commerical and corporate interests, which is not particularly the easiest of tasks as any left of the dial musician will tell you. Yet, Sunday night proved that if you reach people they know exactly what they want and will say so. Ari is also particularly fond of the UK (see web bio for the full scoop) and would love to see her music take off in our beautiful country.
85th and Nowhere will be played on 1107am through Thursday night sometime between 10pm and 1am. Cheers,
Miss Sixty Indie-Sixty Promotions
And since then, I've been contacted by someone who would like to start The Official Michele Ari Fan Club... and be the president. Imagine that. She is starting with a Yahoo Group, so keep your eyes peeled for that. I'll keep you posted.
That's all for now.

Wow. I have been in Nashville a week and life has taken a very nice upswing. I've got a new band that I am working with and rehearsals are underway. If you are on My Space, please join my blogs there as I admit to doing a better job of upkeep on that site. But, I do jot down the main things here and ,right now, the main thing is that I am back!
Still techincal problems with music on this hosting company. Still you can find my music on My Space, CDBaby and loads of other places on the web.

The band and I are doing very well together! We just had our first show last week and the bookings are coming in. Please join the mailing list to keep informed.
The technical problems , on here, seem to be ok now.
A poem for you. Or maybe you?
Not sure exactly when this was written. Sometime in the last year tho. It is a poem. There is no music.
Can you be in love with someone that you've never met?
In love is there only flesh?
Can it be
For he and thee
Tho we've never met?
Is there warmth in holding hands that you've never touched?
How real is the flow and rush?
Can it be
For he and thee
Tho we've never touched?
Can love be made from a million miles away?
Will distant bodies sway?
Can it be
For he and thee
Tho we're a million miles away?
The answer lies not in this time, nor in this space
it's clear
The answer defies all of the laws that everyone holds dear
The answer is a resounding yes
For he and thee can tell you so
We've loved although we never met
We've loved despite there being nowhere in this world to go

These lyrics have been on the front page of my website ,but needed a new home to make room for something else. I hated to take them down completely. I wrote this after seeing "Walk The Line" tho it had nothing treally to do with the movie. I was just curious about Johnny's chords and style. I looked a few things up and ,like most good things, it was all very simple. I became inspired.
6AM
WORDS AND MUSIC, MICHELE ARI
lying on the floor with your face in your hands
and you're oh so tired of one night stands
so you check all the lines on your face in the mirror
and you wish life would get so much clearer
but you toss and you turn 'cause the memories burn
with a fate that you feel you never deserved
but you ,it comes down to you
standing outside 'cause it's 6am
but you won't go home, you won't go to bed
can't sleep well from the screaming in your head
seems the ghosts of your past are really not dead
so you blame the girl with the sun in her eyes
you think it's all her fault you're dying inside
baby you,it comes down to you
walking away when you're trying to stay
you put on a good show, put on a display
give yourself some reasons why you behave
like a lovesick fool on valentine's day
you never found the card that never did say
"i love you, but I don't know why I act this way"
baby you, it was always you

Where have I been? Oh everywhere! Mostly on paper tho. I am almost done with the core structure of a brand new album. Check out the demos on My Space as well as an interview with UK radio broadcast journalist David Spencer. See you there!

When 85th and Nowhere was released I found myself in the foreign position of as web designer, tho I'd never done anything such as that before. It took three weeks of late nights and a few tears to build this website which has seen changes over the years when new pictures are available or the mood merely strikes.
I once found myself in a conversation, early in my career, with the most VIP of a radio network. He asked if I had a website and I said that I had. When he retorted that, because I did not spend a lot of money on the site and had not hired a pro. that he'd likely not be interested in my songs.
???
I thought that what was important IS the songs. Was I mistaken or did I catch a glimpse of the darkside? Could I have been so foolish as to think someone would be far more interested in someone industrious enough to do something she knows nothing about over someone who could write a check?
Needless to say I never went to another industry seminar again. Lesson learned.
No one who has ever cared about my music cared more about my website to include myself tho ,of course, I always want better than what I have. And now I can start on those things.
It's now time to step things up. I have a new release I am working ferociously to get done and out and decided to take the leap and get some professional help with this site. Keep checking back for gradual changes and upgrades.
Meanwhile, make use of my My Space site.
And please say "hello" if you have dropped by to see me.
Thank you,
Michele
